Status Lilypad Forktail (Ischnura kellicotti ) is very closely associated with water lilies, and is seldom found away from ponds and lakes with this habitat present. Adults are usually found perching flat on lilypads, with the abdominal tip curved slightly down (Lam, 2004). In Maryland, this species is widely distributed, and is common on the coastal plain, while uncommon elsewhere in the state (Richard Orr's Dragonflies and Damselflies of Maryland and the District of Columbia ).
