About Records
Maryland Biodiversity Project presents county and quad records on species pages and checklists. Known county records can be considered nearly complete for birds, reptiles, amphibians, butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies, and tiger beetles. We welcome input on anything that you think may be missing or inaccurate. Sensitive records are not exposed publicly, which helps ensure protection of sensitive sites and species. Vulnerable species are only shown at the county level.
If you would like to share observations, the best way is via iNaturalist. All photos submitted for Maryland are automatically added to our project and queued for review and possible ingest into MBP! We are also happy to discuss any special cases and large data sets.
Note that Maryland Biodiversity Project ingests and presents data from a variety of extremely useful references. We do not intend to duplicate or replace these valuable services, and we defer to their owners as the authoritative sources. Any mistakes here are ours and users are encouraged to double-check records on these sites.
