Twin-spotted Spiketail (Zoraena maculata) is named for the conspicuous paired dorsal spots on its abdomen. This is probably the most common species of spiketail in Maryland, and it is distributed widely across the state. Can be found on small forested streams to medium-sized creeks with moderate current (Paulson, 2011). Like other spiketails, this species can sometimes be found feeding in open meadows within forest.
