Status:

Native to North America, but not to our area. The Virile Crayfish is an unwelcome invader to Maryland's freshwater streams.

Description:

Spiny-cheeked (F. limosus) has multiple spines on their cheeks below their eye. Narrow areola eliminates F. obscurus (M. Lutmerding, pers. comm.).
