Spotted Spreadwing (Lestes congener) is uncommon, but widespread in Maryland, and is on the watch list (S3). It breeds in ponds or lakes with emergent vegetation. The two spots on each side of its thorax are rather distinctive, if they can be seen. Similar species in this genus have one spot (Paulson, 2011).
