The status of Marsilea mutica in Maryland is uncertain. Although it is not yet known to be naturalized in Maryland, it is reportedly spreading in Virginia (Weakley 2020).
Marsilea mutica can be distinguished from Marsilea quadrifolia by its multicolored fronds with a light-colored center.
