Status:

Introduced from eastern Asia. "Hitchhiked into Maryland via aquaculture and intentional release" (Maryland DNR).

"Maryland DNR believes that use of grass carp, diploid or triploid, in ponds and reservoirs within the Bay watershed is inconsistent with management of the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem and will continue to urge for a ban on the use of these fish." (Invasive Species of Concern in Maryland)
