Status

According to BugGuide the Black-legged Meadow Katydid is probably an introduced species in the Mid-Atlantic and Chesapeake Bay drainage. The first collections in the area were made in the early 1900's. Prefers the same type of freshwater wetland habitat as Handsome Meadow Katydid. Apparently very uncommon.

Description

Very similar to Handsome Meadow Katydid. The reddish eyes and black/dark coloration of the hind legs differentiate Black-legged Meadow Katydid from the blue-eyed and reddish legs of the Handsome Meadow Katydid.
