Status

This species is closely associated with coastal salt marshes, inlets, and similar sheltered tidal habitats. According to Knisley & Schultz (1997), marginata prefers "beaches and intertidal habitats where mud or detritus is mixed with sand, such as salt marshes, saline flats, back beaches, tidal mudflats, and other saline areas." It may sometimes be common within this narrow habitat.
