Azure Bluet (Enallagma aspersum) is a distinctively-patterned bluet species which can often be common to abundant at vegetated ponds, especially ones lacking fish. It is a good disperser, and often is one of the first odonate species to colonize new aquatic habitat (Paulson, 2011). This species is common in Maryland, and is widely distributed across the state (Richard Orr's Dragonflies and Damselflies of Maryland and the District of Columbia).
