Status

Long's Bittercress is a globally rare plant that is only found on the east coast of the United States. This plant is restricted to fresh and brackish tidal estuaries. In Maryland, Long's Bittercress is restricted to Chesapeake Bay tidal tributaries. The Cecil County populations are considered extirpated.

In the past, the taxonomic stability of Long's Bittercress has been disputed, but most experts now agree that there is enough evidence to support species level designation.

Description

Long's Bittercress is the only Cardamine species that is going to be found growing in tidal habitats. The flowers of Long's Bittercress typically lack petals.
