Status

This is a northeastern U.S. and Canadian species found in with open areas with sandy soils. Flies June to August.

Relationships

Preys upon winged queen ants in the genus Formica. BugGuide notes that the miltogrammid fly Senotainia trilineata lays live larvae on winged ant prey while in flight to the nest!
