Status

Difflugia is the most species-rich genus of testate amoebae. They have a mineral shell (called a test) that varies in composition depending on the environment. Identification of species in this genus requires advanced microscopic techniques such as electron microscopy.

Where To Find

Difflugia can be found in almost any freshwater habitat, including lakes, ponds and wetlands.
