Status

This browner form, similar to the blacker Appalachian species Idia laurentii, may be an undescribed species. The brown form has been found in the Frederick Municipal Forest and Garrett County in Maryland.

Relationships

Larval host plants are unknown, though the caterpillars may eat dead leaves, as those of related species do.
