Status

Undescribed species! "Abundant in June-July in coastal Pine Barrens along the Atlantic Coast such as Cape Cod, Long Island, and the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Also scattered records inland from the Southeast (Tennessee for example)." (BugGuide)

Description

"Much darker than H. olinalis and lacking the yellow fringe, with the yellow markings on the forewings reduced" (BugGuide). Compare other members of genus Hypsopygia, several of which are widespread and common.
