Found scattered or in groups on decaying wood.

Description

Fruiting body: Usually well under 1" in diameter; fertile (upper) surface some shade of olive, orange, and brown; infertile surface red-brown in maturity; round, flat to saucer- or cup-shaped. Stalk: Short.

This species and the look-alike C. torta can only be separated microscopically. (J. Solem, pers. comm.)

Chlorencoelia is a species of fungus in the family Hemiphacidiaceae. It was originally described in 1798 by Christian Hendrik Persoon as Peziza versiformis. The species was transferred to Chlorencoelia in 1975.[1]
