Found on ground in deciduous forests; easily overlooked.

Description

Cap: Dark brown to nearly black, dry, thin flesh, brittle. Gills: Distant, gray-brown, bruise reddish. Stalk: Dark brown to almost black, hollow, may be compressed. (J. Solem, pers. comm.)
