Relationships:

Boxelder bugs, sometimes in large numbers, visit Box Elder trees in the Spring. The bugs are attracted mostly to the female, fruit-bearing trees, because the adults and larvae of the bugs obtain sap mainly from the developing seeds, although to some extent from flowers and leaves as well. (These bugs also occur on other maples and on oaks and Tree of Heaven.) The bugs cause little damage to the tree. They lay their eggs in bark crevices or on foliage or seeds of the host plant. The bugs may become a pest when they enter homes in the fall to overwinter (Evans, 2008).

There are 59 records in the project database.
