Status

Found on ocean and bay beaches and dunes. Occurs naturally, but is also planted for erosion control (Terrell & Peterson, 2009).

Description

The constantly shifting sands of beach dunes often bury the plant, but it adapts by growing additional stems, thus helping bind the substrate and reduce dune erosion.

Where To Find

Common on beach sands and dunes of the Atlantic coast and bay shores.
