A Yellow-nosed Albatross off Cape of Good Hope, South Africa (11/6/2010). Maryland has two accepted records of this exceedingly coveted East Coast rarities. Rowlett photographed a subadult at Baltimore Canyon on 2/1/1975 (photo) and Stan Arnold documented a dream sighting on Assateague Island on 6/6/2009 (field notes, short video clip). Grayish head coloring on the 1975 bird supports the nominate form, chlororhynchos. Photo by
