A Barnacle Goose in Kent Co., Maryland (1/12/2012). Found by Dan Small and Maren Gimpel. Maryland accepted its first natural origin Barnacle Goose records in 2011 and is currently in the process or reviewing all historical reports. The evidence supporting natural vagrancy to the Northeast has become overwhelming in recent years, changing long-held suspicions that most Barnacle Geese in our area were escaped birds. Photo by
