A Gray Seal roosting on the south jetty at the Ocean City Inlet, Maryland (5/14/2011). This species is expanding in the Northeast, so maybe we'll be treated to more sightings of this species. Photo by Bill Hubick. (MBP list)
A young Gray Seal in Worcester Co., Maryland (2//2017). From the National Aquarium: We have a seal season update from our Marine Animal Rescue Manager Jennifer Dittmar: "We had our first confirmed grey seal sighting in Maryland this past weekend. This young seal is about a month old, and foraging on her own. You can see remnants of her white pup fur on the tips of the rear flippers. The pink mark on her head was placed there by the Marine Mammal Stranding Center a week ago, when she was being monitored in New Jersey. This seal rested on the beach in Maryland for about 4 hours, then continued south." Photo by Allen Sklar. (MBP list)
