Status:

Found throughout the United States.

Description:

The plants are small (about 1 cm in length), dichotomously branched and with a strong central line. The thallus is relatively thick and has many rhizoids. Ricciocarpos natans is an aquatic plant that grows floating on the surface of still or slow-moving waters, or very damp soil.

Where to find:

Found infrequently in freshwater wetlands, ponds and lakes.
