This species is highly localized in southern Maryland, but may be slightly expanding in St. Mary's Co. Our first two records from western Maryland (Garrett Co. in 2012) probably reflect an expansion of the Appalachian population.

Larvae feed on grasses. Adults nectar at sap and rotting fruit.
