Differentiated from similar goldenrod species by having pubescent upper stems, leaves that are entire to serrulate, three-nerved, and lanceolate. Involucres are 3-4.5mm high (Weakley, 2015). Most similar to Canada Goldenrod and Giant Goldenrod.
