American Ipecac (Rosaceae) is mostly a midwestern species and has been excluded from the Maryland Plant Atlas. This species is not related to another plant with the same common name but belonging to a different family and genus: Euphorbia ipecacuanhae, in the Euphorbiaceae Family. The latter species occurs in Maryland, and there can be confusion because of the same common names.
