This species is widespread but prefers sandy areas. It is found along the Chesapeake Bay and on the central Eastern Shore. Flies from April to October.
Males distinguished from A. virescens by very wide hind femora. Females have a greenish thorax. Nests are categorized as ground burrows, and social behavior is categorized as solitary to communal (Selfridge et al., 2017).
