Status

Promachus rufipes ranges widely in the east, especially east of the Mississippi. It is quite large and aggressive, with striking markings. The species seems to have a propensity for taking large prey. In Virginia, they become more common in late summer, and this is likely the case in Maryland also (Bedell, 2010).
