Status:

There are two varieties of Seneca Snakeroot in Maryland: latifolia and senega. The variety latifolia is ranked S2 and is considered state rare.

Description:

An herbaceous perennial which sends up several erect or ascending stems each year. Flowers in solitary, terminal, densely flowered racemes.

Where to find:

Grows in dry, rocky soil, often on calcareous outcrops.
