Causes galls on rose leaves: "Spherical, 7-10 mm. in dia., covered with spines about as long as diameter of the gall, the leaf obliterated if the cluster is large." (BugGuide)

Diplolepis bicolor, also known as the spiny bud gall wasp, is a species of cynipid wasp that induces bud galls on wild roses.[1] This gall wasp is found throughout North America.[2] The galls measure 10 to 12 mm in diameter and have a superficial resemblance to the leaf galls induced by Diplolepis polita.[1]
