Horsehair Fungus Marasmius rotula (Scopoli) Fries

Description:

Cap: White/yellowish; hemispheric with small depression; margin grooved. Gills: White to pale yellow, attached to a collar; distant. Stalk: Light, especially at apex, becoming reddish-brown to blackish in age; may be small bulb at base. Compare to M. capillaris which grows on oak/hardwood leaves (J. Solem, pers. comm.).

Where to find:

Habitat: Groups on dead wood (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
