An uncommon native orchid confined to Maryland's coastal plain.
Diminutive and can be easily overlooked due to the brown coloration of the flowering plant that blends in with the leaf detritus where this plant is most often found.
Found in Swamp forests, pine flatwoods in wet or seasonally saturated sandy or organic soils (MD DNR). Not as habitat specific as once thought.
