Status:

Found solitary or in groups on ground or in moss in forests.

Description:

Cap: Dark violet to purple; covered with fibers forming tiny tufts; dry; convex to nearly flat in age; may have small umbo; margin inrolled when young; flesh dark violet/grayish. Gills: Dark violet to cinnamon-brown in age; subdistant. Stalk: Dark violet; dry; covered with tiny matted fibrils; tapers up; partial veil leaves thin violet annular zone; club-shaped base (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
