Maryland has two accepted records of Northern Wheatear, a rare vagrant from Eurasia that generally winters in Africa. Our first was found by Michael O'Brien on 9/11/1990 at Hog Island Marsh in Caroline County, Maryland (just south of Tanyard Marsh) (MD/DCRC #1991-009) (Maryland Birdlife). A second record was accepted from detailed notes by Ed Boyd at BWI Airport in October 2012 (eBird report).

Fun extralimital fact - Bob Ringler found Oregon's first documented Northern Wheatear in June 1977 (eBird).

There are 3 records in the project database.
