Found single, scattered, or in groups on leaf litter or duff under hardwoods and conifers.
Description
Cap: Pale brown or gray to off-white; convex soon becoming funnel-shaped; smooth; white flesh. Gills: Off-white, decurrent, crowded, forked. Stalk: Color of cap, smooth; extensive white mycelium at base. Odor: Unpleasant, fishy or rancid (crush a small piece of flesh). (J. Solem, pers. comm.)
