A Harpalus katiae found dead and collected in Caroline Co., Maryland (6/24/2017). Determined by specimen review by Curt Harden. Notes from Curt Harden: '...new northernmost record for the eastern U.S.! Previously known only as far north as southeastern Virginia. According to Kip Will's revision of the subgenus, this species likes sandy areas, so the habitat sounds perfect too. I received this specimen from Bill and examined it under the scope. The head is entirely without small punctures, and the aedeagus has the characteristic spinules ventrally. Currently it resides in my collection (CWHC) as a photo voucher.'
