Description:

Cap: Orange-red, center sharply conic with upturned wavy margin in age; viscid; flesh yellow. Gills: Yellow, may become serrated, close. Stalk: Like cap or paler, white base; striate or twisted; does not blacken when bruised, but base may blacken with age. (Compare with H. conica.) (J. Solem, pers. comm.).

Where to find:

Solitary, scattered on ground in coniferous/mixed forest (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
