Habroscelimorpha dorsalis media is the subspecies of Eastern Beach Tiger Beetle found in the southeastern Atlantic Coast of the United States. It ranges from central New Jersey to Florida, but it has been extirpated from many historic sites. The preferred habitat for this species is wide ocean beaches. This species has experienced severe declines in the past century (especially the northeastern form dorsalis dorsalis) due to increased recreational beach usage, ORV traffic, beach erosion, and and beach stabilization projects. In Maryland, this subspecies occurs only in Worcester County on the beaches of the Atlantic, in areas without heavy ORV use (Knisley & Schultz, 1997).
