This species may not occur in North America, so many mycologists have already adopted the synonym T. subsejunctum, as described by Peck. The degree of variability, however, may also suggest that there is more than one species (Bessette, et al., 2013). (L. Biechele, pers. comm.).
Radially streaked fibrils on the pileus and distinctive brownish center on a yellowish background are good fieldmarks (L. Biechele, pers. comm).
