Large Wainscot Moth Rhizedra lutosa (Hübner, 1803)Non-native    Synonyms: Hodges #9447.2.
Kingdom Animalia   >   Phylum Arthropoda   >   Class Insecta   >   Order Lepidoptera   >   Family Noctuidae   >   Genus Rhizedra

Status:

Rare. Glaser et al., 2005: R. lutosa is a recent invader from the European continent, recorded thus far from New Jersey, New York, and now Maryland. The larva feeds upon the nearly ubiquitous wetland reed Phragmites, and thus the moth seems destined to spread widely in the Atlantic states.

There are 6 records in the project database.
