Brown Spiketail (Zoraena bilineata) is found at small forested streams through the Piedmont and Western Shore of Maryland. There are no records from the Eastern Shore. This species is very closely related to the Delta-spotted Spiketail (Zoraena diastatops), and they may intergrade where ranges come into contact (Paulson, 2011). This uncommon species is ranked as S3 (watch list) in Maryland.
