No Common Name Formica pallidefulva Latreille, 1802  Synonyms: Formica nitidiventris.

Status:

Formica pallidefulva is an abundant and adaptable ant, generally distributed throughout Maryland. This species, a member of the Formica pallidefulva species group, may be found through a huge variety of open habitats, including, but not limited, to grassy fields and meadows, brushy habitats, forests, and even suburban yards or parks. The species ranges throughout most of eastern North America, west to lower elevations in the Rocky Mountains (Trager, 2007).

Relationships:

Formica pallidefulva is a common host of the dulotic Formica pergandei. It is also the only host of a rare species of Polyergus, P. montivagus, which could possibly occur in Maryland. Any Polyergus found with this species would be of great interest.

There are 17 records in the project database.
