Halloween Pennant Celithemis eponina (Drury, 1773)

Status:

Halloween Pennant (Celithemis eponina) is the largest of our Celithemis species, with conspicuously-colored, translucent orange and dark brown wings. This dragonfly breeds at ponds and lakes with emergent vegetation, which they often perch on. In Maryland, this is a widespread species pennant, with records from all but one county. It is generally not found in overwhelming numbers, and could be considered uncommon (Richard Orr's The Dragonflies and Damselflies of Maryland and the District of Columbia).

There are 488 records in the project database.
