Monkfish Lophius americanus Valenciennes, 1837  Synonyms: American Anglerfish,  Bellows-fish,  Goosefish,  Headfish,  Satchel-mouth.

Status:

Monkfish are found in deep waters of the western Atlantic. According to Maryland DNR, they are "occasional visitors to the lower Chesapeake Bay from late fall to early spring."
