Annual Ragweed Ambrosia artemisiifolia Linnaeus  Synonyms: Ambrosia artemisiifolia var. elatior, Ambrosia artemisiifolia var. paniculata, Ambrosia elatior, Ambrosia glandulosa, Ambrosia monophylla, Common Ragweed, Hay Fever Weed.

Status:

This common species' wind-dispersed pollen is notorious for producing late summer and fall allergies. Recorded in all 23 Maryland counties and Baltimore City.

Relationships:

Host to Ophraella commnuna and Cylindrocopturus quercus. Leaves are mined by the micro-moth Astrotischeria ambrosiaeella and the leaf miner fly Calycomyza ambrosiae.
