Fox Sparrow Passerella iliaca (Wilson, 1810)  Synonyms: FOSP, Red Fox Sparrow.

Status:

An uncommon winter resident that can be locally common in favored habitats. Departs in the spring earlier than most of our sparrows, with peak migration occurring in March.

Where to find:

Sightings at roadsides and bird feeding stations increase when there is snow on the ground.
