Status:

Apparently common lichen-like ascomycete fungus, which can appear as though a hardwood is painted white.

Relationships:

Lichen look-alike found on White Oak, Tulip Poplar, and other hardwoods. Lendemer and Noell note that it is most frequently encountered on White Oak on the Delmarva Peninsula.
