Diogmites misellus is a small yellowish species of robber fly, with dark markings on the thorax similar to several other species. It prefers open, dry habitats. It has a distinctive habit of gleaning ants or flies off of grass stems, an unusual feeding method for asilids (Artigas, 1966). Most asilids capture prey in flight.
