This is a microscopic, unicellular green alga.

Description:

Eremosphaera viridis is a relatively large, unicellular green alga. The cells are nearly spherical and mostly colorless except for the chloroplasts.

Where to find:

This species can be found in lentic freshwater habitats throughout Maryland (e.g., lakes, ponds, and wetlands).
