Description:

Firerug Inkcap typically grows in groups on rotten wood. The common name refers to a conspicuous aggregation of mycelium called an ozonium that is characteristic of this and related species. The ozonium is not always present and when absent this species can be difficult to distinguish from other Coprinellus and Coprinus species.
